Another week, another hour’s worth of bangers. From the prolific and phenomenal Tierra Whack’s Unemployed, right through to the highlight of American Football’s better-than-it-should-be latest, Doom in Full Bloom. In between, This Is Shit (I Want to Go), the heartbreaking highlight from Bumblewasps’ excellent debut album, and the saxy latest from if Slint were a pop band, Sorry.
Jayda G has broken through the rain clouds to lock down song of the summer accolades with Move To The Front, the most immediately dancefloor-primed tune of the year so far.
Elsewhere, the long awaited return of Sky Ferreira comes in the shape of Downhill Lullaby or, as my mate Mark put it so eloquently, Venus in Furs for the Instagram generation. It’s p good. Not the bop we were hoping for though.
Weird Blokes blackmidi finally SOLD THE HELL OUT and put a song on the internet. The much maligned, much hyped four piece who are actually just quite decent released Crow’s Perch, much to the delight of Quietus readers everywhere.
